Chimney fires are rare, but when they do happen, the results can be devastating. Many homeowners who experience one describe it as a frightening event they never want to face again. The best prevention is simple: always choose clean, seasoned firewood from a reliable supplier. Burning high quality wood protects your chimney, reduces creosote buildup, and keeps your home safe from the risk of fire.
Here are some photos of chimney fires, kindly given to us by our friends at the Fire Department. Be warm, be safe!
This kitchen fireplace on E. Alameda looked great, except for a little wisp of black coming from. a small crack in the ceiling. We tore out the ceiling and could hardly believe what we saw! Built on slab adobe walls, nothing to burn, the hidden ceiling and roof was the only thing that can burn is nothing but a mess. In Santa Fe they built the fireplaces after the structure was up, so they cut a little hole and put a piece of cement board between the tile and viga and you’re good to go!
